For the avoidance of doubt I've highlighted the EGR on the pic supplied by Iantt. I recently cleaned the EGR on the 1.8 Duratec (MK2.5) which is basically the same engine, one of the bolts is an absolute "bar steward" to get to, even with the large rubber coolant hose removed.

Suggest splitting the exhaust from the down pipe, run it for some time and see if it smokes still. If not, whilst the exhaust is split at the first joint and hanging, run a hot pressure washer

I drive a 2003 Focus 1.8 TDCI with 115k miles on the clock and all I did was disconnect the vacuum hose from the valve and bunged an old bolt in the rubber hose. The car ran perfectly before this and still does, I only did it as a precautionary measure after reading so many horror stories. Hi, I have a ford focus 1.8tdci 55plate, i was driving home from work last night and a "Engine system fault" came on the dash computer and a red light at the side, the car came to a juddering holt. i turned the car off and restarted it after 2 mins and the car worked fine. i have been informed th EGR Valve For Ford C-Max Fusion Focus II Mazda 3 1.6 TDCi 9660276280 1526689 (Fits: Ford Focus C-Max) (10) 10 product ratings - EGR Valve For Ford C-Max Fusion Focus II Mazda 3 1.6 TDCi 9660276280 1526689
I'm having a few problems with my Focus TDCI 1.8 and all the searches I've done come up with similar but perhaps not exact issues, so I thought I'd ask the people that would know. Whilst my GF was out and about in my Focus, she began to lose power in 5th gear, so she stopped, called the AA and a guy came out and said it was the EGR valve so he
Only other thing I notices, was a small unit to the right of the EGR valve was whining (May even be part of the EGR valve). Disconnect plug and its stops. I'm thinking about stripping the cam cover off at the weekend, and checking the timing chain hasnt skipped a tooth - not sure if this would cause these issues? Hi all. Its been a while since I posted on here. I have a problem with my son's 2010Focus Titanium 1.6 TDCi. It is a keyless start and entry. The car developed a problem where it posted the message "Key Not Detected". I got Green flag to look and they could not find the fault. Ford suggested it m Anyway replaced it and said the EGR valve needed replacing eventually but they cleaned it. So 5 months later, the stability control light is always on and car occasionally struggles to start. Seems like the EGR is at fault.
EGR problems and useless Ford Garage. I replaced my MK3 2.2 Titanium X about 4 weeks ago with a 2008 MK4 2.2 having covered 30k miles. On the test drive it ran faultlessly, really nice and smooth. It was only on the drive home after picking the car up 3 days later that I noticed a slight hesitation or judder at around 2000rpm when maintaining a
Well after cleaning the EGR valve unit Ford Model: 1.8 TDCI Mk2 Focus Ford Year: 2006 UK/Ireland Location: Dorset Share; Posted February 8, 2017. It is correct to look at the APP first, because idle speed is not governed by any throttle valve, just by the fuel injections, which are constantly adjusted by the ECU to maintain the correct RPM. oil leaking past piston rings, or through valve seals can cause raised rpm. This would usually show as increased oil consumption. The 1.8 TDCi is usually happy to take an EGR blanking plate and doesn't throw an EML, mines been blanked for about 5 years and I've not had it trigger the EML once due to the EGR. *Edit - the thread I was thinking of is here and contains a PDF from @Tdci-Peter that details the repair process for the internal EGR mechanism* Rh57g.
